Definition PTSS/PTSD

Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome (PTSS) is the name given to the symptoms that are experienced after a traumatic event. These symptoms can also be delayed and appear from up to 3 months after the event, to some forty years or more post-trauma (after the traumatic event).  Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is (in essence) the same thing, except psychiatry prefers to differentiate between symptoms and the fully activated disorder.

Post Traumatic Stress and related conditions:

It is now known that re-living and going over traumatic memories is deeply damaging. As such you will never be asked to speak of your trauma, especially if it is severely distressing to you.

Memory is not stored as a DVD or Video, but more it seems as an interactive holographic memory that contains sounds, smells, sensations, colour, visual memory, feelings, emotions and much more.

Going over and over traumatic memories further embeds the trauma, adding to the possibility that the individual may re-live the memory or continue to suffer ongoing Anxiety leading to ‘flash backs’, Depression, Phobias, severe Anxiety Attacks, and many other related conditions - often referred to as ‘co-morbidity’. These other conditions may or may not be related to the initial trauma, but many are.

Severe Anxiety attacks may even trigger a Psychotic Episode where the client re-lives the trauma, (in the form of an open eyed hallucination or waking dream), in present day time.

We must all have seen the films of the tragic war veterans who suffered from ‘shell shock’. Many were shot as cowards when they ran from the field of battle. They were not cowards.

The human mind was simply not meant to experience such horror.

Using a technique called “Visual Kinaesthetic Dissociation”, or the “Rewind” technique, a traumatic memory can be neutralised by a systematic exhausting of the neurotransmitter that fires the memory. Rather like over working a muscle, it reaches a stage where it will no longer operate. This is achieved in a deeply relaxed trance state, where the individual is enabled to feel very distant from the memory - detached, safe and uninvolved.

This process has been successfully utilised many hundreds of times and I have extensive experience in dealing with cases of severe Trauma and related conditions.
